Summit to Address the Valley’s Housing Crisis

August 8, 2017

Fresno, CA – The 6th Annual San Joaquin Valley Affordable Housing Summit-Building Together-will be held on Thursday, September 7 at the Valdez Hall in Fresno, California from 9am to 4pm. The Summit is hosted by the San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative (Collaborative), with support from the Office of Community and Economic Development at Fresno State and the California Coalition for Rural Housing.

The annual Summit is a unique and highly anticipated opportunity that brings together stakeholders from across the Valley and throughout the State. Participants include elected officials, city and county agencies, community-based organizations, financial institutions, developers, and advocates. Summits have been held in Fresno, Stockton, and Bakersfield and more than 200 attendees are expected this year.

The 6th Annual Summit will focus on the increasing importance of partnerships as San Joaquin Valley communities come together to address California’s housing crisis. Workshops will feature case studies of innovative partnerships that demonstrate successful, replicable strategies. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in cross-sector dialogue in order to share insights and to grow networks. With more workshop offerings than ever before, topics include: financing, homeownership, regional perspectives on homelessness, sustainable development, employment and poverty, community development, resident services, and community engagement. Highlights of this year’s summit include round table discussions with local elected officials and state program directors, the Dennis Wallace Community Leadership Award, and housing policy updates.

Early-bird registration launched June 1 and will remain open through August 8. Regular admission prices will take effect August 9 and will remain open until September 1.
