Advanced Communications Services Seed Grant

Valley Telehealth Partnership
UC Merced, School of Natural Sciences
$250,000

Valley Telehealth Partnership, formerly eHealth Network Project, has launched six satellite health services locations from Modesto to Bakersfield, exceeding the original goal of four centers. The hub is maintained at UC Merced. Selected sites will target rural areas with a goal of increasing access for underserved residents who have limited access to specialized health care. The fourth site is to be in the southern part of the Valley, most likely in Bakersfield. Each center will provide:

  • Telemedicine services via videoconferencing;
  • Training for physicians and staff to fully utilize the promise and power of telemedicine; and
  • Educational opportunities for Valley high school and college students to learn the culture of medicine by engaging and exposing them in and to advancing medical technologies
